What keeps you going against all odds?

My dreams, passion, goals in life keeps me going against all odds. Life is like riding a bicycle. To keep balance, you must keep moving. I look at the bigger picture. Sometimes, we get too caught up in our own misery that we fail to think clearly. I always try to find a silver lining. And I have built a support group. I Keep fighting and I don’t stop challenging myself. There is no such thing as failure, unless we give up. It is only that we get defeated in different phases of life. Let this defeat be the fuel for your present as well as future endeavors. Life gets harder at every passing moment. So it is for everyone. There is no point in worrying. Forgiving others as well as oneself becomes really important.

What is the secret of your success?

Be consistently candid and honest. Make it a point to speak what’s on your mind without fear of judgment. By speaking the truth and being honest, you can support your words with actions that will help you pursue your success. Simply thinking for yourself can make you unforgettable.

What does social work mean to you?

Social work is a practice-based profession that promotes social change, development, cohesion and the empowerment of people and communities. Social work practice involves the understanding of human development, behavior and the social, economic and cultural institutions and interactions. Social workers help relieve people’s suffering, fight for social justice, and improve lives and communities. Most people think of social workers when they think of poverty alleviation and child welfare. It’s the best job with social justice values underlying all work; it offers flexibility and portability; they are able to help heal and/or problem solve; they help make the world a better place. Respect for human rights and a commitment to promoting social justice are at the core of social work practice throughout the world. Social work grew out of humanitarian and democratic ideals, and its values are based on respect for the equality, worth, and dignity of all people.
